As I mentioned in my post on the visit to Hartington, we didn’t have long to spend there as we wanted to go onto somewhere else. That “somewhere else” is the book shop at Brierlow Bar.
To say that the bookshop is in the middle of nowhere is an understatement. It literally is in the middle of the countryside. It’s quite easy to find as it’s at a crossroads on the main road between Buxton and Ashbourne. It’s surrounded by fields – the nearest town being Buxton.
The bookshop is in a converted barn and stocks books on almost every subject imaginable. Most books are discounted, and it also has a small selection of CDs and DVDs. Another plus point for the bookshop is the number of books by local authors or on topics about the local area.
If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out. Before you go, check out their website at www.bookstore-uk.co.uk.
